Is there a way to add virtual extensions? ie extension 2222 to call external number?

This may be the term. In our current pbx they're labeled 'Virtual Extension' so we could dial a number such as 2222 or 2223 for instance then this will redirect to an external number... Does that make sense?

In Accounts > Extensions, theres a number alias field - it only allows for one number, but thats where I put extension aliases

That doesn't work for me. I'm looking for simple speed dial, right now I do it via ring group which is an overkill. I know I can also do it via follow me on an extension but I am trying to figure out how *0[ext] speedial dialplan works?

It uses the speed dials in your Contacts. You set up a contact and when you add their number, also add a speed dial code. Then you can speed dial that contact's number with *0[speeddial]

Thank you. That worked, although I might just use call forwarding on virtual extensions instead so no need for *0 prefix

right , but orig question was ;
is there a way to add virtual extensions? ie extension 2222 to call "external number"?

Thx anyway

oops, missed that!

You could create extension 2222 and set forwarding to the external number.

Fine for half a dozen, but not hundreds :)

did you put "199" (without quotes) into the speed dial field in the number edit screen? And put the phone number into the number field?
