Ringing External number with voicemail on busy

I have a scenario i cant find any info on with the search that i feel like should be pretty simple but cannot get it to work in testing.

I have a customer with a traditional PBX with 2 lines, but they want to use our Fusionpbx instance to host their VM so that if a 3rd caller calls in, they still get the voicemail. Their 2 lines are in a hunt group from the carrier, so i have tried follow me and a ring group to ring this number on their system, and the 2 calls go through fine, but the 3rd call gets a busy signal from the carrier and that causes the call to fail rather than go to voicemail.

Is there any way around this?

The scenario isn't clear to me. It sounds like your system isn't what is feeding the lines to the traditional pbx, so there isn't much you can do unless the carrier offers call forward on busy features to a number on your system AND allows for more than 2 calls.

If however, you had the customer's numbers hosted at a regular SIP provider, you could route calls to your system and a simple 2 line hunt group (Ring group) with voicemail is very simple.

Correct, the customer has analog lines from a carrier, and i host their main phone number via a sip carrier, and reroute to their analog lines.

The issue seems to be that if you have ANY external number in a ring group that fails with a busy status, the ring group fails the call and does not go to the timeout destination.

I think i have this worked around for now. I set the ring group to "rollover" and i set the first destination as the analog hunt group, and the second destination as an extension on the PBX with a 5 second ring time. With the second option in the ring group, even with the busy line it still moves on instead of failing. I would have thought there was a flag somewhere to enable to continue to the next destination if the trunk failed.
