Hello,

I am pulling my hair out on this one and I am hoping one of you fine people can give me a hand. The problem I am facing is that the outbound caller id name is not being delivered. I had it working at one point but it was only coming through 25% of the time. I then lost my VM, had to rebuild it, and it has never worked since.

I have tried configuring the Gateway for PID or RPID, I have set the Caller ID in From to true, I have confirmed that the phone number being delivered is the correct one, I have called three different carriers to ensure that it isn't a carrier issue. None of these steps has worked.

I have ensured that the extension that setup for testing this has the Effective, Outbound, and Emergency Caller ID information all populated. I have not seen any errors in the logs.

At this point I am at a loss as to why this is so inconsistent, any pointers that someone could provide that might be explanation as to why this isn't working would be hugely appreciated.

Regards,

What I've done is, set the CID at the outbound route.

I have this at order #0:

Then at order #100
(this is for 0800/0508 numbers)

Make sure you have the effective caller id name and number set.

My extensions look like this:

Hope this helps :)

I configured my outbound routes as you suggested and did get any different results. I keep just getting the phone number. On another note I have confirmed that the phone number is being picked up from the effective caller ID number from the extension just not the name. Thanks for the tip though.

The provider you're calling needs to accept the name coming through caller id.

In my country (New Zealand), only a small handful of providers accept cid text.and our trunk provider isn't one of them unfortunately

The odd thing was I managed to get it working for about 25% of the time before I had to rebuild the VM and after that it stopped working. So I know the trunk provider and telecom provider will work, but why I lost it I am not sure.
