On some domains dialplan not being parsed at all

Hi All,

Bit of a strange one. Moved all customers from old 4.4 to 5 without too much of a problem apart from 2 domains.

none of the dial plan instructions apart from outgoing and incoming calls work. Not even *97 for vm. I get the following error, could anyone point me in the right direction?

I am seeing that calls are not being sent to voicemail. I did perform an upgrade last week. Calls just keep ringing but do not get sent to voicemail, this looks like it is related to a dialplan issue.

To be clear, the call is being received inbound, the call rings the phone if it is registered. It does not send the call to voicemail after no answer. Unless I implement the call forward work around. This was not the case about 10 days ago, I cannot definitively say this was due to an upgrade, but I cannot point to any other change which would have caused this. My knowledge is limited however, so I may have caused a change that I am unaware of.

I have upgraded many people that have not had an issue with voicemail. Maybe you have an old local-extension and voicemail dialplans. You can delete them and run Upgrade -> App defaults to get new defaults.

This did not seem to work. Same behavior. The app defaults do restore the dialplans but there's no change in behaivor.

For me, this is only true of one Domain which is unable to use *97 even after restoring the dialplan. There is definitely something not right, but I am not sure if this is local to my instance or as this thread suggests a wider issue.

You probably have some catch all rules that are being triggered before the more specific rules like *97. Last time I had to check an example call in the logs, see which rule triggered the PASS and work backwards from there. Some causes have been:

1. Someone changed the context of a rule but not the domain, so FreeSWITCH processes it but you can't see it in FusionPBX.
2. Someone created a catch all ^(.*)$ with a low order.
3. Duplicate routes back when FusionPBX wasn't always checking for duplicates
4. Someone messed with the inbound/outbound direction when trying to create an alert_info rule.

If I delete all dialplans and do upgrade -> App Defaults will they all reappear (even the domain specific ones?) given that I haven't really created any custom diaplans except the 10 digit and 11 digit calling?

I'm personally not that familiar with the process, but I would recommend a backup of the database before attempting it. It may be worth your while trashing the domain and recreating it, exporting all the devices, extensions, etc and reimporting them.

Another data point... I've been having simliar trouble on a clean install. My hypothesis is that it has to do with my use of alpha characters as part of the extension code. On the older systems, there used to be a field under extension for number alias, which seems to have been removed more recently. In the past I've used that number alias when creating ring groups etc. It seems that in the version that I've just spun up, when I create a new extension with an alphanumeric code, the system is not automatically generating the alias, and in the absence of an option to manually configure it, there is no entry added to the local register.

The solution for me was to copy the extension to a new one with a number only code. I had to copy to a new one rather than re-naming or I would end up with the autoprovision issues I was having here.

Is there a way to add aliases back using the extension settings page?

Another data point... I've been having simliar trouble on a clean install. My hypothesis is that it has to do with my use of alpha characters as part of the extension code. This forces you into using number alias so you can call extensions with a number. I don't recommend using number alias. Attackers almost always go after the IP address rather than the domain name. For this reason in latest version of FusionPBX Event Guard automatically blocks registration attempts to the IP address. Instead of a non numeric username I suggest a strong 20+ character password.

On extension number alias is expected to have some problems with it as its use is discouraged.
