FusionPBX with Postgres in separate data center

I understand that it’s possible to point FusionPBX to an outside Postgres server. I also understand that it’s not recommended to practice such an approach unless both servers are in the same data center due to potential performance issues.

this would be a temporary solution until this customer grows in capacity. Question is, what are the limits? At what point should I start planning to beef up the server and either have Postgres hosted on that local server or at least in the same data center?

I do not wish to use the BDR solution at this time

There are lots of things to consider, you will just have to monitor it and watched pdd etc.

For example, there is a huge difference in a remote datacenter that is 15ms away vs one that is 150ms.
