I have been trying to find out how to forward calls while preserving the original caller ID but have so far been unable to do so. I want any external call that is forwarded within the PBX to display the original caller's number or related ID so the receiving end can take note of it if needed. I have confirmed with our trunking provider that they allow this, but I have been unable to make it work in our FreePBX deployment. Does anyone have any insight into the steps to take to do this?

I would start with the dial plan that sets the caller ID and check if one has already been passed to you. Then, leave it as is and do not override it.

Thanks for the reply, my dial plan is the default one set when creating a destination so that has not been changed. Does the PBX override it by default? Below is my default dial plan on our main line.

FusionPBX support explained that, while the platform is designed to forward the original caller ID by default, most U.S. SIP providers now block or override forwarded caller IDs to comply with anti-spoofing and robocall-fighting requirements introduced under the FCC’s implementation of the 2019 TRACED Act and its STIR/SHAKEN mandate.

I have already confirmed with Voxtelesys that they are not blocking this, and they directed me to our PBX as the issue.
