Use Debian, why are you installing things manually when the installer does all this for you?

The installer is definitely working, if its no, you need to find out why. What is the machine? Is it a VPS?

Jessie, exactly as described on the install instructions you showed me.
Debian 8 is currently the recommended operating system by the FreeSWITCH developers. Start with a minimal install of Debian 8

do you recommend anyone that an host these? We are wanted to move our freepbx systems to freeswitch.

So far the debian 8 is working. I guess I assume since Ubuntu is debian based it would work....doh!

For anyone getting this in future, follow this - the most likely reason you would have got this error is because you are installing it on Ubuntu desktop version.

I had the same issue when I installed on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS desktop version. - Currently Ubuntu is supported..

In my case PHP was not installed by the installation script for some reason, I installed PHP manually and it installed version 7.4,

I also installed manually apt install php-pgsql

I also uncommented the

extension=pdo_pgsql ;extension=pdo_sqlite extension=pgsql ;extension=shmop

in the php.ini file

then re-ran the installation and it installed correctly.
