Hi All,

Is there a limit on the maximum number of active users FreeSWITCH can support?

We have around 6000 active lines on a single instance and are seeing registration issues

There is no hard set limit. The limitations are dependent on usage environment, hardware, and network capacity. Single machine with 5000 extensions with 20+ presence subscriptions each making 100 calls per second has a huge load difference compared to 5000 extensions with no presence and 5 minute registration time.

@KonradSC and a few others have posted a little about their instances with higher user counts and call volume. Generally, the Sofia profile is the most limiting factor but there are many other optimizations available.

To get some more information:

How many SIP profiles are you using for registration?
Are they general business users or call centre or home users?
What are your system specs?
Is CPU or RAM close to maxing out?
Version of freeswitch?
What is the SIP registration expiry timer?
Are clients using SIP UDP or TCP?
