How to enable possibility to record calls in mp3 format?

I've installed FPBX to Centos OS at Nov 2019.
What I must to do to be able recording calls to mp3 format?
I had trying change volume from WAV to MP3 in record_ext, but it not work (no records)

Does everyone record conversations in WAV format and there is no way to record in MP3 format?

Some of the newer dialplans use the FreeSWITCH API call "uuid_record" to record calls, the reason for this is that uuid_record supports masking and un-masking the audio during the recording so sensitive things like credit card numbers are not recorded. Now I'm not sure if it is still the case but uuid_record did not support .mp3, only .wav.

I record in the .wav format and then convert to .mp3 in an overnight batch job. The process is discussed in the following post:
