Hi all,
Just a bit of back-round here, I had an ASTPP/Freeswitch box configured and working, I set the SIP profile of this box with it's internal-sip-ip and port to use it's lan address, I then set the ext-sip-ip and port to it's nat'd public ip and roaming users worked great.

Now I've installed FusionPBX in the same manner, all my internal calls and testing work well, I've now opened it's sip port on my public IP and set the ext-sip-ip and port accordingly in the same way I had done on my ASTPP box but once I set the public IP, incoming calls from roaming users work, outgoing calls to a roaming user ring through but after answering the call, the phone I placed the call from still shows "dialing", and the call is not connected.

I've done exactly the same 1-to-1 NAT as I had done previously with ASTPP, opened up ports 16384 to 32768...so don't believe it's a gateway/nat issue on my firewall.

I'm only using the internal SIP profile in fusionpbx, do I need to create a second SIP profile specifically for external access/roaming extensions? And if so what is the critical difference I have to configure to allow roaming users to work?

I've tried finding info in the documentation but either I'm looking in the wrong place because all I can find is how to create the external profile...any help/direction here much appreciated.

Please see attached txt file with profile settings, I've set the ext params back to false. I had set the external IP both in the sip profile and then tried under the system variables to set them there.
ext-rtp-ip $${external_rtp_ip} False
ext-sip-ip $${external_sip_ip} False

Ok, found this in the tips and tricks section, ext-rtp-ip and ext-sip-ip both set to "autonat <public IP>", working now!
